Title of the thesis:Geotechnical design of retaining structure
Summary:The aim of my design was to design a retaining structure for the excavation pit in Bratislava that would be able to contribute to the general safety of the structure and the adjacent buildings. The construction of secant pile retaining walls would be able to do that in an effective and economic way.Design of secant pile (hard/soft) walls supported by ground anchors will be presented in the thesis. Furthermore, the location of the building is in an non seismic urban area, and it will be constructed next to some other buildings and next to a road. So, anchored secant piles walls retaining systems have been chosen so that the risk of collapse of the adjacent buildings and cracking of the road will be minimised. The subsoil behaviour was analysed based on the results of ground investigation and simplified geotechnical model of engineering conditions was created. In conclusion, 158 piles will be constructed in the perimeter of the excavation pit with diameter 0,9 m and the length 7,10 m and 40 anchors will be installed .
