Title of the thesis:Geotechnical design of retaining structure
Summary:In the beginning of this century, the construction and the development of tall buildings started in Bratislava. My diploma thesis focuses on the design of the retaining structure, concerning the alternative design of deep excavation for foundations of the Trinity building, located in Slovakia. The building is situated in Bratislava within the administrative and business locality of Mlynske Nivy and is bordered by Plynárenská and Jarabinkova streets. The results of geotechnical design of retaining structure are the pile walls. Pile wall is the wall formed by bored piles. There are a large number of pile wall configurations or modifications of existing methodology. When the wall must be watertight, the secant wall, consisting of interlocking piles (available in diameters ranging from 410 to 1500 mm) is most suited. The geology of the environment must be taken into consideration, for which the object has to realize the impact and the composition of the groundwater table. Due to the site investigations that were made, three types of soils were found above the water table, such as sandy clay, clayey sand and poorly grained soil. As for the soils below the water table, clay with low or mean plasticity, sandy clay, clay with high plasticity, soil with low plasticity and clay with medium plasticity were found. The technological possibilities of the implementing situations, with the different tensile loads of Concrete and various other loads, connects the construction of the existing building and addresses each, with its specificity Project's individual. The comparison of 5 different lengths of piles, L= 13 m, L= 14 m, L= 15 m, L=16 m and L= 17 m, was calculated for the diameter D= 0.6 mm. The result of geotechnical design of retaining structure is the bored pile walls with the length of pile equal to 15.00 m, the pile diameter d = 0.60 m and the pile spacing a= 0,50 m. The material for piles is concrete of type C20/25. During execution of pile walls five excavation stages took place and starting from the second one. Anchors were included in the construction, with the length of L=12 m, spacing between them b=2 m and were located in the depth of 2.50 m below the surface.
