Title of the thesis:Geotechnical design of deep excavation
Summary:The mission of this diploma thesis was to design an alternative excavation pit for City Business Center foundation on Karadzicova Street in Bratislava. The aim of this work was to design and execute of Deep Excavation and also to compare the structural length and depth with actually realized structure. Area of interest is located east of the center of Bratislava, at the intersection of the Stare Mesto and Ruzinov, between Karadzicova and Budovatelska Street in neighborhood of VUB. Solution of excavation pit has an unusual ground plan dimensions for first section about 39 x 200 m, maximum depth -11,4 m from the level +- 0,0 m and forms the first part of the new administrative center. The thesis addresses the design by diaphragm wall with a diameter of 0,9 m axial distance between b = 0,7 m. The length of diaphragm wall was designed 15,4 m. We also make a comparison with different length of diaphragm wall and diameter to find the best solution for our excavation. Anchors are designed as temporary structures as they are not protected against the adverse effects of water. Structural design is based on the results of the engineering geological investigation for the upcoming areas. The calculation dimensioning of structure was carried according to the currently applicable European standards, using the program GEO5. The entire structure was assessed for in terms of internal and external stability and deformation. There are also have been different structural elements (diaphragm walls and anchors) designed and evaluated.
