Title of the thesis:Carbocell extraction process
Summary:Several delignification methods are known and used to extract wood fibers for making wood pulp, one of them is the Carbocell process. The aim of this work was to measure the efficiency of the Carbocell process on two test samples: eucalyptus and beech. Two sets of temperatures and pressures have been used: 175°C and 200°C, 13 MPa and 30 MPa. Results of the delignification were: pulp and black liquor. The original sample and the resulting pulp have been tested for content of the following: Lignin, holocellulose, alphacellulose, ash, extractives, limiting viscosity number was also measured. The black liquor samples have been tested for solids content. Results show that with increasing temperature, pressure and cooking time, the pulp yields decreased with similar results for both wood samples. It was found that the process has not caused a decrease in the lignin content, saccharide content of the samples has been dissolved instead, mostly hemicelluloses.
