Title of the thesis:Application of superpixel segmentation for detection of moving objects in a video
Summary:In this thesis we write about object segmentation in video using superpixels and their typical characteristics as their low numbers or preservation of object boundaries. One approach that we decided to verify is to use the superpixel contours to highlight object boundaries. We move them by motion of their corresponding superpixels from last several frames. Successful identification of object boundaries would allow proper grouping of superpixels, which automatically results in a final segmentation. Besides, we use determined motion of superpixels in combination with their color in segmentation by clustering. The beginning of this thesis is devoted to analysis of the problem area with the focus on segmentation, superpixels and tracking their movement. In the next part are described the already existing solutions that also use superpixels for segmentation in the video. The last section is devoted to our proposed solution and its evaluation.
