Title of the thesis:Data visualization in virtual reality
Summary:With the expansion of information technology, the amount of data we encounter in our daily and professional lives is on the rise. Clarity decreases in inverse proportion to the quantity of the data, and therefore we seek different means of visualising data in such a way that provides us with the best perspective on its structure and relationships. The use of fully immersive virtual reality for the purposes of data visualisation is still an open area of study, and has the potential to bring several advantages compared to commonly used desktop displays. In our work, we present a solution that allows the user to interact with a 3-Dimensional data visualisation in a fully immersive virtual reality environment using an Oculus Rift head-mounted device and Leap Motion Controller for hand movement and gesture recognition. We have analysed diferent methods of data visualisation in fully immersive virtual reality, as well as different ways of interacting with the visualised data without using common interaction tools such as the mouse and keyboard.
