Title of the thesis:Penetration of Selected Micropollutants from Stabilized Sewage Sludge into Different Parts of Tomato Plant (Solanum Lycopersicum L.)
Summary:Sludge produced by the wastewater treatment plant includes micropollutants in addition to nutrients and trace elements. The micropollutants represent a danger not only for the animals but also for the environment itself. This bachelor thesis deals with possible penetration of contaminants from the produced stabilized sludge into different parts of Tomato plants. The stabilized sludge, on which the plants were grown, came from the wastewater treatment plant in Bratislava - Petrzalka. Solanum lycopersicum – Tomato plant was used as a model plant, because the seed of this plant can survive the entire technological line of WWTP, including its mechanical and biological grade. We followed a total of 15 types of medicaments and drugs that were subsequently analysed in individual parts of the plant (roots, stem, leaves, fruits). The results obtained have proven that some contaminants can penetrate into individual parts of the Tomato plant and thus repeated penetration into the food chain is possible. Both the sludge and the tomato parts itself analysis was performed by high performance liquid chromatography method coupled with mass spectrometer.
