Title of the thesis:Weldability of the new generation of creep resistant austenitic steels for supercritical applications
Summary:The aim of this thesis is the study of weldability of new austenitic grade steel, BGA4 for supercritical applications. The microstructure of BGA4 base metal after heat treatment is formed of polyhedric austenite grains with characteristic annealing twins, non-uniform dispersion of NbX carbides and without delta -- ferrite. The creep testing of BGA4base metal and also of weld joints using different fillers, namely Ultamet BGA4 and Inconel 625, has been conducted with following parameters: temperatures 625°C and 725°C, loads 100MPa up to 315 MPa. The observation has been made, that the character and the volume of the precipitation is related to the temperature, load and the time to fracture. The weld joints observed have been made by MMA technique, welding position PA, using coated electrodes.
