Title of the thesis:Study of graphical records in documents by optical and spectroscopical methods for forensic practice
Summary:The subject of diploma thesis was study of the material composition of carbonless copy paper by optical and spectroscopic methods and the technology of creating a graphical record. The properties of crystal violet lactone, currently the most commonly used color developer in carbonless copy papers, were studied. The hypothesis, that color developer has different properties on carbonless copy paper and office paper was verified, as well as its ability to luminesce in the IR region. Furthermore, the impact of heat and light aging on some physical and chemical properties of copies were observed. Changes were monitored by colorimetric measurments, FTIR spectroscopy and by observation of infrared luminescence at different wavelenghts. Differences between copies made on carbonless copy paper and office paper were observed. Finally, alternative methods of identifying color former on office paper were examined and abrasion of carbonless copy paper and cause of dark marks were tested.
