Title of the thesis:Recycling of waste plastics from end-of-life vehicles in the presence of natural zeolites
Summary:This thesis highlights the importance of recycling plastic waste from old cars, as their number is constantly increasing. According to the legislation witch came into force in January 1. 2015 it is mandatory to recycle up to 95% of the vehicle weight. Polypropylene is the most used plastic for making automotive parts such as bumpers, dashboards and interior trim. Therefore the aim of this study was to determine the possibility of the use and effectiveness of various types of natural zeolites as catalysts for the pyrolysis of waste plastics from old cars and to find optimal reaction conditions. Natural and modified mordenite and clinoptilolite from Slovak sites were tested. The results showed that natural zeolites have a positive effect on the pyrolysis of polypropylene. Differences in their nature and preparation treatment are mainly manifested in different yields of gas, gasoline and diesel fractions.
