[Dissertation Thessis]- Slovak university of technology in Bratislava. Faculty of materials science and technology in Trnava; Institute of production technology. Supervisor: professor Ing. Alexander Čaus, DrSc.- Trnava, Mtf STU, 2011. The aim of this PhD. thesis is improvment of microstructure and properties of selected STN 41 9830 high sped steels (HSS) by optimalization of heat treatment methods or changing of austenitization temperatures. The theoretical part of PhD. thesis consists from two chapters, which describe chemical and phase composition, structure and properties of HSS, and also methods of heat treatment of cutting tools from HSS as hardening, annealing and tempering in detail. The first part of experimental deals with metallographic, RTG phase and EDX analysis of solidification mikrostructure of basic and inoculated STN 41 9830 HSS for cast cutting tools. The second part of experimental describes the study of austenitization temperature (1180, 1200, 1220, 1240 and 1260 °C) influence on character of mikrostructural changes of tempered STN 41 9830 cast basic and inoculated steels and wrought steels. The third part of experimental consists from study of austenitization temperature influence on mechanical properties of selected heat treated HSS.
