|Summary:||The task of my bachelor thesis is to redesign (revive) Paulínska street in Trnava. This street is located directly in historic city centre, which is also the sector of historical preservation. This is the fakt that I kept in mind during the whole design process.
The Paulinska street is tightly connected to Hlavná street, the pedestrian zone, by multiple passages, and those I wanted to use for better pedestrian connection of the city zones. From my point of view, the proper linkage of Paulínska street with the pedestrian zone is a rational step towards improving the pedestrian movement within the historical city zone, whose main problem is insensitive automobile traffic. In certain parts of the central city zone, the taffic keeps down the natural pedestrian pace, which negatively affects the atractivity of this zone as a whole. This is the reason I decided to cut off the automobile traffic from Paulínska street, with the exception of supply. Despite that, in my design I counted with the opportunity of a car passing the street in special occasions regarding that the City office of Trnava is located right on this street.
The concept of my design is based on detailed research of the area, not only by processing the available backgornd information, but mainly by multiple physical inspections of the street and its surroundings. The problem analysis, which was the result of that research, became the base for my design to answer the raised questions the best way possible.
Therefore, the resulting design became a conjunction of the effort to reserve and point on the recent qualites of the street along with the design of its revival and bringing the new aspects of a welcoming city life of a significant city, as Trnava is without a doubt.
