Title of the thesis:The Parish Center
Summary:Today's parish centers serve to the members of the parish family, primarily to meet outside the worship service. The purpose of the parish centers is to provide, in a close to the temple area, room for spiritual shape-up, faith deepening of the believers, as well as openness towards the seeking and nonbelievers, and approach to the Church. New parish center is situated on Ľudové námestie square in Bratislava. Since the temple design is obviously sacral architecture, the philosophy of the design is inspired by a passage from the Holy Bible. In this passage, where Jesus would select his disciples, He named one of them Simon Peter, transferred meaning the rock. The rock, as a symbol of the true faith's resolve represented by Peter, and a symbol of the Church's persistence -- house built on a rock. The rock, as a substance into which God engraved 10 God's Commandments, to persevere forever. The light is a significant factor of every temple design. It is the light that has a major impact on the visitors of sacral buildings. The light is a protagonist of our comprehension and perception of space. The light is an instrument through which we are able to experience what we call sacred, the person of Jesus surrounded by radiant white light.
