Title of the thesis:Design of Stirred Tank Bioreactor for Acetic Acid Production
Summary:The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a batch stirred tank bioreactor for acetic acid production. Mathematical model contains mass balance of compounds, energy balance and simple economical balance. Based on the one year production of acetic acid we proposed an industrial bioreactor volume. From the mass balances we could find out the consumption of substrates and created products. From the energy balance, including the enthalpy balance and the overall heat transfer equation, the amount of cooling water,flowing inside the cooling coil and its outlet temperature was calculated. The cooling coil length followed from the recommended standard size of the bioreactor and the distance between the two loops. For the simple economic balance investment costs for the bioreactor and operating costs of material inputs (nutrients and cooling water), the power input of a stirred and air compressor was taken into account.
