|Abstrakt:||The habilitation thesis deals with the design of shapes and following cutting operation, measuring or 3D scanning not only of parts with the shape given by dimensions or equations but mainly shapes created by the artist or nature (unique free form surfaces). Cardinal factors of system of machining are machine, tool, workpiece, fixture or positioner, computer and human, while the optimal solution, which leads to the minimum cost, is found by classification of these factors and their combination. Habilitation thesis is an attempt to reveal the relationship between the most important factors related to this topic. In the first chapter of the habilitation thesis the known classifications of shapes in machining and the new classification of shapes in machining by shape character of semiproduct and workpiece are presented. The second chapter deals with manufacturing methods of shaped bodies by machining and non-machining methods. The third chapter is addressed to the issue of machines and tools for the machining of curviform shapes. A systematic approach has enabled creation of a new classification of kinematic structures of CNC milling machines characterized by simplicity and transparency, which is the basis for the communication and development of science between specialists in the field. The fourth chapter deals with the measurement and scanning in machining. The chapter includes data collection methods of point coordinates, with the main emphasis on the methods used to collect the data of coordinates of points of workpieces, which represent contact methods of measuring coordinates of points and 3D scanning by active triangulation method, which belongs to the group of non-contact measurement methods. Moreover the main advantages and disadvantages of contact measurement of point coordinates and 3D scanning by active triangulation method are also mentioned. The fourth chapter also presents selected applications of 3D scanning performed at the author's workplace and findings resulting from the 3D scanning. In the fifth chapter the benefits of habilitation thesis for science, education and technical practice area are presented.|
