Title of the thesis:New approaches to geotechnical parameters determination of fine grained soils
Summary:The assessment of reliable strength and stiffness parameters from laboratory test is a necessary and fundamental step in every geotechnical design. The degree of sophistication with which a soil is characterized varies considerably according to the selected laboratory method. The background information supported the interpretation of geotechnical parameters comprises a large number approaches and methods, including empirical, semi-empirical, analytical and numerical approaches. These approaches and critical state soil mechanics support correlations of index properties with basic engineering properties of soils. The results of laboratory investigation for determination of liquid limits using fall-cone method and Casagrande method were analyzed. The resistance of high plasticity soils to saline solution was investigated by means of selected geotechnical parameters.
Key words:geotechnical parameters, fine grained soils, laboratory test
