|Title of the thesis:||CFD modelling of gas-liquid stirred bioreactor|
|Summary:||Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to understand, predict, and design fluid flow in closed and open systems. Our thesis is focused on CFD simulation of turbulent mode in a stirred vessel in program Comsol Multiphysics. The turbulent model was calculated by k – ε model based on Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equation. Subsequently, turbulent parameters were compared with experimental data. The next step was to simulate a two-phase gas-liquid system in a bubbled reactor, with the liquid phase consisting of water and gaseous phase. Finally, the stirred reactor with the gas inlet was simulated. For mixing simulations the frozen rotor was applied. This model is based on the assumption that the rotating parts do not move and only the fluid moves with frequency of the stirrer. Results from frozen rotor was used as an initial conditions for time-dependent simulation.
