Summary: Rutín prítomný v plodoch rakytníka rešetliakového má spolu s ostatnými fenolovými kyselinami významné biologické vlastnosti. Vyniká najmä antioxidačnou, protizápalovou a antimikrobiálnou aktivitou. Okrem toho, výťažky z plodov rakytníku sú v medicíne využívané na posilnenie stien kapilárnych ciev čo tiež súvisí s brzdením abnormálnej vaskulárnej dilatácii.
