Summary: The diploma thesis will focus on oxidation resistance of aluminium based alloys at elevated temperatures. Oxidation of the samples in a synthetic air will be measured quantitatively by the means of Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The tests will be performed at isothermal conditions at four different temperatures (0.2 Tm, 0.5 Tm, 0.7 Tm and 0.9 Tm, Tm = melting temperature of the alloy). The surface morphology and composition of produced oxide layer will be studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD). The goal of this work is to compare oxidation resistance of selected aluminium-based alloys.
