Annotation in English: C. albicans is an opportunistic pathogenic yeast. Candida cell wall mannan plays an important role in the fungus-host cell interaction and in its virulence. The ability to switch from yeast to hypha form is crucial in the development of C. albicans infections. The hyphal form has different or altered antigenic properties compared to yeast form. Although there are several immunogenic molecules identified from the yeast and the hyphal forms to date, the whole picture is missing.
