Annotation: Plasty a rôzne ďalšie polyméry a polymérne kompozity sú nenahraditeľnou súčasťou nášho života už niekoľko desaťročí. Problémom je však priveľká spotreba a absencia dôslednej recyklácie (lebo likvidácie). Mnoho plastov preniká do životného prostredia vo forme mikroplastov (častice menšie ako 5 mm) a zamoruje ho. V súčasnosti sa len skúma vplyv mikroplastov na faunu a flóru. Problémom je identifikácia mikroplastov v róznych prostrediach, popis ich správania a analýza – čo sa s materiálom deje a výskum, ako sa tieto procesy (zmeny) dajú využiť pri identifikácii a/lebo odstraňovaní mikroplastov. Práca by bola uskutočnená na Ústave polymérov a STU, zostávala by zo separácie materiálov (na STU) a prípravy vzoriek a ich charakterizácii pomocou spektroskopických a termálnych metód, prípadne chromatografií. Pre analýzu budú využité FTIR, Ramanská, UV-vis a fluorescenčné spektroskopie. FTIR a Raman sú priamo využiteľné pre určenie typu látky, UV-vis a fluorescencia (fotoluminescencia) lebo aj chemiluminescencia predpokladajú nadväzovanie farbív na povrchy plastových častíc. Termálne metódy ako TGA, DSC sú prípadne využiteľné pre štúdium zmien v materiáloch. V súčasnej dobe sa rozvíja metodika v danej oblasti.
Annotation in English: Plastics and other various polymers and polymer composites are important in our life for several decades. However, the problem is the over-consumption and lack of the reutilization or elimination. Many plastics is present in the environment as microplastics (particles smaller than 5 mm) and causes contamination. In the presence, the impact of such microparticles on flora and fauna is being investigated. The problem is the identification of microplastics in various matter, description of their behavior and analysis – what are the processes (changes) connected to the maicroplastics and research, how to utilize such changes in identification and/or removing from the environment. Thesis should be performed both at the Polymer Institute and STU. The work consist of material separation (STU) and sample preparation and characterization by spectroscopic, thermal or by case chromatographic methods. FTIR, Raman, UV-vis and fluorescence (phosphorescence) spectroscopy or chemiluminescnce are suitable methods. FTIR and Raman allow for direct estimation of the matter while UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy are method used to analyze dyes attached to microparticle surfaces. Thermal method such as TGA or DSC are possibly applicable in analysis of changes in the materials. In the presence, the methodology in the field is under development.
