Summary: This work would focus on the optimization of an proprietary material currently under development. Object of investigation is a novel membrane absorbent based on affinity chromatography principles. Affinity chromatography is unique among separation methods as it is the only technique that permits the purification of proteins based on biological functions rather than individual physical or chemical properties. Aim of the diploma thesis is membrane characterization (porosity, pore distribution, membrane swelling, permeability…) and investigation of performance of membrane affinity chromatographic adsorbent for purification of therapeutic proteins. This topics follows from our long-term cooperation with the company Sartorius Stedim Biotech.
