|Project description:||The objective of the scientific project is to contribute, through new knowledge through new knowledge, to the field of production of carbon nanotubes and to the analysis of their properties. We will study various deposition conditions in a modified CVD reactor in which, for the first time in Slovakia, we succeeded in manufacturing carbon nanotubes and measuring their emission properties in March 2003. We will study the mechanism of synthesis of carbon nanotubes on conducting Fe and Ni wires and tips, and on non-conducting (glass, corundum) and semiconducting (silicon) substrates. Attention will be paid also to studying and optimizing the electric field gradient at the and of the nanotube and to the trajectories of electrons in the vicinity of the nanotube, which is of crucial importance for the construction of devices utilizing cold electron emission. A further subject of our study will be the selection of a proper technology for oriented growth of nanotubes.|
