|Project description:||This national project is intended to complement an European CRUISE ? project. Proposal of CRUISE Network of Excellence was submitted in response to 4-th call in 6-th framework program of IST. It is interesting for the automotive industry, which is now in progress in Slovakia. CRUISE includes demonstration of Co-operative systems for road transport that will make transport more efficient and effective, safer and more environmentally friendly. The team from Dept. of Telecommunications will contribute to the project with its expertise in modulation and coding techniques. Such techniques will be explored considering both narrow- and broad-band communications and Multiple-input Multiple-output (MIMO) strategies with taking into account also possibilities of joint source-channel coding. The research in this project will be focused on construction of new techniques based on new codes and new interpretation of known techniques such as OFDM, DMT. The main complementarity of this project with respect to CRUISE is in the fact that not only the communication within the sensor network will be studied, but also the main aspects of the connection of sensor networks into existing telecommunications infrastructure. The access area is crucial for such connectivity. In dependence on the amount of granted financial resources also a test bed with sensor network will be established. In order to increase our computational capabilities a cluster of computers will be connected into a GRID or NorduGrid. The other supportive activity will be in dissemination of the knowledge to Central and Eastern Europe. It will be achieved by organization of workshops and symposia in Slovakia.|
