Project description:New ecological aspects of urban drainage are highlighted in present time. To the technical aspect of the receiving water comes a new question of protection of receiving water as a natural and strategic source. There is well elaborated methodology of impact evaluation on receiving water from the pollution sources with continuous effluent emission, e.g. WWTP and/or industrial WWTP. Point sources with irregular (shock) effluent emission shall keep only the emission (end of pipe) limits, which are specified indirectly. (Directive of Slovak Government No.491/2002). New developments in the field of receiving water protection leads to meet imission limits as well. These limits can be set up as a maximal allowed pollution concentrations related to the frequency and/or probability of appearance of such concentrations. Goals of such approach is to keep natural receiving waters in good ecological status in order to maintain their natural functions with respect to the sustainable development of the regions in Slovakia. The goal of proposed project will be methodology for using of the water quality mathematical models of receiving waters as a tool for evaluation of changes, measures and management practices in urban catchments. Methodology and case studies will be available for public and technical community and can be used as a support documents for establishment of new legislation acts or new technical standards.
