|Project description:||Residual power of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) in shipping containers is almost exclusively carried out though the American software SCALE 6, which is based on nuclear physics calculation.The system is sensitive to the input data and the results for the same case differ by up to 15 %. This inaccuracy can lead to considerable problems in transporting the fuel, possibly leading to emergency condition and, ultimately, has a great impact on the overall security, which is defined by strict EU directives and national authorities (Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic - ÚJD SR). The aim of the project is to design a new procedure for determining the residualpower of spent nuclear fuel stored in a container from the proposed mathematical model, where the container with SNF is understood as a thermal system. The thermo-mechanical system parameters (parameters of the SNF container) shall be indentified based on the mathematical model of the system. Subsequently, the parameter values (constants) shall be detected by a series of measurements carried out on the container containing real SNF, as well as simulated physical model of the container, where SNF shall be replaced by variable power electric coils with complex measuring and control system. Applying the proposed approach, the residual power in various types of containers shall be determined with great accuracy based on temperature curve, representing a unique solution of global importance. The actual residual power shall be determined by two independent methods. Thus, the SCALE 6 system used worldwide shall be verified for the first time.The proposed system of measurements, processing of the acquired data and their implementation shall be consistent with the identified fields of the Slovak Republic specialization for the RIS3 strategy, namely for the field of ICT, and shall be in compliance with the Industry 4.0 concept philosophy and implementation.|
