Project description:We study the effect of the structural disorder on the electrical properties of doped polyaniline and conducting substituted polythiophene gels. In doped polyaniline we will create disorder by thermal and irradiation aging of the material and by addition of plasticizers. This will also give useful information from the of application point of view. We will also investigate more in detail the metallic character of the conductivity of doped polyaniline. In substituted polythiophene gels we will vary the degree of the structural disorder by swelling in solvents and we will study the dependence of the conductivity of the gel on its swelling ratio. We will also study preparation and properties of conducting polymer nanocomposites in which we will use polypyrrole covered nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes as conducting fillers. Theoretical modeling and design of new aromatic and heteroaromatic conjugated systems with properties interesting from the point of view of applications in molecular electronics are also part of the project.
