This page shows details on the project. The primary projects are displayed together with a list of sub-projects.

Project description:The project aims at creating an integrated system of teaching design of connections of steel structures. It will consist of a set of educational processes focused on students and engineers to improve the quality and attractiveness of teaching design of steel structures according to the newest European standards. The main objective of the project is the design and subsequent production and assembly of a so called "Steel Sculpture" – a real structure, about 2.5 meters high, which will be build in the atrium of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in a 1:1 scale. This sculpture will be made up of different steel elements that are interconnected by real, typical details commonly used in steel structures. The sculpture will comprise about 50 different joints. Such educational toolkit will significantly improve the imagination of future designers and constructors. Besides this we plan to compile a teaching tool (publication), which will contain a description of every single detail (joint) used in the sculpture together with examples of their common use. A very important part will be an example calculation of each joint according to the latest Eurocodes European standards for designing building structures).Students will thus receive a comprehensive "educational package" that integrates different approaches to learning, texts and pictures together with a practical part, using a "real" structure.
