Project description:The aim of this project is preparation of the gradient nanocomposite TiAlN coatings by next generation of implantation a deposition process (PIII&D) based on high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS). Properties of TiAlN coatings will be compared to the coatings prepared by existing direct current magnetron sputtering (dcMS) and lateral arc rotating cathode (LARC®) technologies. After process parameters optimization, TiAlN coatings will be applied for cutting tools and forming dies. We expect increase of wear resistance and tool lifetime due to the better adhesion at the coating-substrate interface and reduced internal stress.
