|Project description:||Pre-treatment of metal surface prior to coating process using plasma cleaning in electrolyte to increase the adhesion of the coating-substrate system. The possibility of removing undesirable inorganic and organic residues from the surface in one process step will be examined. The properties of the treated surfaces will be confronted with surfaces prepared by mechanical polishing and cleaning in trichloroethylene. TiAlN coatings deposited dcMS and LARC® technologies will be applied to such pre-treated surfaces. After optimization of the cleaning process parameters, the impact of morphology, microstructure and chemical composition of treated surfaces on the adhesion of TiAlN coatings will be examined. The possibility of using this process for pre-treatment of high-speed steel surfaces and sintered tungsten carbides will be investigated as well. By using this technology a significant reduction in the environmental load during manufacturing process is expected, while increasing quality and productivity.|
