Project description:The goal of the work is to design and prepare series of high-entropy alloys in the form of bulk alloys, as well as thin films and to do basic characterization of their structure, phase constitution and properties. The bulk alloys will be prepared by arc and/or induction melting, while the thin films will be prepared by magnetron sputtering and ion implantation. For structure and phase constitution analysis, electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, electron diffraction, and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy techniques will be used. Among the properties studied, the attention will be focused particularly on mechanical properties (hardness, toughness and strength), chemical properties (corrosion resistance), and physical properties (thermodynamic stability). The project is oriented on fundamental research with regard to practical applicability of the results achieved. Obtained findings will be published in in peer-reviewed journals from CC database and presented at international scientific conferences.
