|Project description:||Project has to solve a very actual theme of risk determination at flood situations on rivers. Recent catastrophic flood events of last years in Slovakia, in the whole Europe as well as in the whole world have demonstrated the unforeseen destructive force of the flowing water and with it connected need for flood protection. It is apparent that an absolute protection against the floods cannot be achieved. The goal of the project is to decrease damages consequently to area flooding in the maximum possible extent. Planned methodological procedures will consist of mathematical modelling of open channel flow (1-D, 2-D) at simultaneous determination of topographical parameters of the potentially flooded area by means of GIS methodology. Modelling results will be input data for the decision process of the multi-criterion risk analysis of flooded areas along the Slovak rivers. At result interpretation a co-operation with water boards is assumed using the results of aerial photographs. Methodological procedures will be applied on common Slovak ? Austrian reach of the Morava River.|
