Project description:In the study of symmetries in maps, when speaking about the lest level of symmetry one usually means the situation when the automorphism group is regular just on the verte set. Map whose automorphism groups contain a subgroup regular on vertices are called Cayley maps. Apart from symmetries i tis useful to study also certain external morphisms which one may think of as isomorphisms from a may onto a ?k-fold rotational image? of the map. The corresponding values of the parameter k are called exponent sof a map.In the proposed research project we will build up a theory of exponents of Cayley maps and apply the results to the study of highly symmetric maps and thier symmetry groups.
