This page shows details on the project. The primary projects are displayed together with a list of sub-projects.

Project description:The main aim of the project is the study of light interaction with periodic planar structures of metallo-dielectric photonic crystals as well as vertical carbon nanotubes. The project is concentrated on a deeper understanding of physical phenomena of plasmon resonances in periodically patterned metallo-dielectric and carbon nanotubes/graphen nanostructures including nonlinear effects in these structures. The optical response of dielectric photonic structures can be strongly modified by metallic or graphen layers generation of a complex plasmonic coupling phenomenon. The fabricated structures will be characterized by broadband angle resolved reflectance spectroscopy response to identify the different Bragg, Fano and Mie resonances as well as surface plasmonic bandgaps. Carbon nanotubes/graphen nonostructure will be tested for its functionality and ability to generate and detect light spectra from NUV to NIR to characterize their electrical and optical properties. For the design of the photonic nanostructures, complementary simulation tools that rigorously solve Maxwell's equations will be developed based on the principles of block iterative frequency domain and RCWA method.
