|Project description:||Some areas in Slovakia witness extreme maximum or minimum or lacking precipitation much more frequently. The first example results into floods and the second one into excessive soil drying. Water regime, which determines soil productive ability, depends on water inflow and outflow into or out of aeration soil zone. Water transfer through upper and lower boundary directly influences on the water supply in the aeration soil zone. The upper boundary is the soil surface with or without plant canopy. For evaluation of soil water regime it is necessary to have information about the time course of water storage in studied soil horizons during the hydrological year. The gain oft his project will be build up the soil moisture network, partly full automatic. It will be created the knowledge base for soil water storage diagnosis with aspect for optimal plant supply by water. Component part of the project will be quantification of changes of hydrophysical properties of the soil surface layer depending on extreme meteorological events and the influence of these changes on the water movement into the soil in selected Slovak areas. The water storage of aeration zone will be assigned by monitoring of moisture in soil profile, which will be used for calibration and verification of mathematical models. Expected changes of the soil water regime will be simulated as a result of extreme meteorological events and change of climate.|
