Project description:In our project we suggest theoretical and numerical study of current induced spin polarisation of electrons in semiconductor heterostructures. Our approach uses three complementary methods: a mesoscopic model in stationary nonequilibrium state, transient processes in the mesoscopic model and numerical modeling from first principles. Combining the latter we obtain a systematic understanding and broad perspective on the process of spin polarisation. Furthermore, we will examine possibilities for its amplification, which is a necessary condition for real application of this phenomenon in spinotronics.
