|Project description:||noise levels (BKG-noise). Optimal reverberation time can be easily reached by proper choice of the absorption properties of interior surfaces.The noise levels in the classroom are determined by the acoustical properties of the interior surfaces and by the background noise levels. High BKG-noise levels in the classrooms are usually caused by low quality windows or doors or by weak insulation of partition walls between the classrooms or classroom with corridor.An increase of BKG noise causes also a decrease of the speech intelligibility. Therefore, to improve the speech understanding in noisy classrooms, most of the teachers increase their voice to the keep a desirable Signal to Noise ratio (S/N ratio). However, these voice levels have their limits in time and intensity. Therefore, it is important to monitor the BKG noise in the classrooms and develope appropriate assessment methods.|
