|Project description:||The project solves selected physical, material and environmental problems of nuclear fuel cycles and the back-end part of nuclear power system. Through computer modelling and simulations via different computer codes followed by comparisons with experimental results, new knowledge is gained: a) about the possibilities of transmutation processes for plutonium from reprocessed spent nuclear fuel used in perspective fuel cycles of pressure-water reactors; b) about optimal transmutation modifications of hexagonal and square fuel assembleys of pressurized-water reactors, making use of advanced types of nuclear fuel materials and about the extent of reducing their long-term radio-toxicity after transmutation; c) about nuclear fuel cycles? assessment viewed from their long-term security with deep repository storage of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and radioactive wastes (RAW); d) about computer determining of radioactive flow of materials from decommissioning of contaminated and activated construction parts of nuclear installations.|
