|Project description:||The project is focused on acquiring new knowledge in the theory of membrane chromatography using methods of experimental and mathematical modelling that can be exploited in the process design of membrane chromatographic separations employing bimodal porous materials based on regenerated cellulose. One of the investigated aspects will be the development of methodology of characterization of pore structure and the relationship between the pore structure and adsorption and diffusional properties of chromatographic membrane at adsorption of model proteins and their mixtures. Another topic will be the investigation of mechanisms of adsorption of the model proteins and development of suitable mathematical models that can be exploited for modelling of processes of membrane chromatographic separation. An integral part of the development of process models will be the investigation of hydrodynamic characteristics of membrane adsorbers using dispersion experiments of non-adsorbing compounds and CFD-modelling.|
