Effects of inhomogeneities on functional properties of high-temperature superconducting wires

Project description:Non-metallic superconductors based on mixture of Y, Ba and Cu oxides (YBCO) are well known materials showing superconductive properties at relatively hogh temperatures. Structural analysis of micrometer superconductive layers on metallic substrate enables to understand the ralationship between the parameters of preparation of layer and its properties. During deposition of layer on meallic substrate and during further processing, defects in structure of thin layers of YBCO develop. These defects significantly affect electromagnetic properties of superconductors, especially critcal current and ac losses. Information about defects in layers of YBCO, inferred from structural analysis, are useful for decrease imperfections of production of superconductive layers.
