|Project description:||Project focuses on a research of progressive timber structural members. The research will be focused on two major fields: 1. Experimental and theoretical analysis (short-term and long-term tests), theoretical analysis and spatial stiffness of long-span truss beams. 2. Application of timber in development of multi-storey residential buildings. The aim of this research will be an optimalization or more precisely a design of new product types and a new application of products based on timber. The goal is to spread the use of timber as an ecologically important material for load-bearing civil and engineering structures. By increasing the use of timber its possible to achieve saving of energy and no-renewable materials, its possible to decrease CO2 emissions and so to make a step forward in worldwide industry and be an active part of the environmental program of EU from year 2009 at the same time.|
