Project description:The project aims to develop new methods for estimation of climate change impact on runoff from mountainous catchments in Slovakia which will respect climate induced changes in forest ecosystems and soils. Approaches in recent c impacts studies usually consist of cascade of models in series. Downscaled GCM outputs drive models of the hydrosphere which serve with their outputs the adaptation process. Feedbacks in the relations between land use, parameterisation of hydrológie models and climate change were not respected. The proposed new regional impact assessment methology will rely on the integration cross sectorial and feedback relations in the parameterisation of the rainfall runoff process. The problem of flow prediction under climate change will be decomposed into component processes with respecting existing and induced relationships across levels and sectors and scales (local and regional climate, ecosystems and catchment hydrology, annual, monthly and daily and sub-daily time steps). Special attention will be paid to runoff extremes. The reliability of impact assessment will be increased by a new system of hydrológie models, which will be physically and conceptually correct and consistent in their outputs across temporal and spatial scales
