|Project description:||The project aim is to extend knowledge about the possibilities of decentralized retention and detention of rainfall runoff in urban catchments. One of the prospective technologies in this field are green roofs, because of its hydrological function with regard to the retention (reduction) and the detention of rainfall runoff, which may be one of the crucial factors for sustainable urban development. Another objective is to extend current knowledge of rainwater management in urban areas: research on the filtration ability of green roofs, rainwater runoff quality and possible use of green roofs as a supplementary source of service water in urban areas. The third research objective will be to survey the possibilities of using some of the materials for the construction of green roofs and their impact on the hydrological characteristics of green roofs, as well as runoff water quality improvement.|
