In criminal investigation, facial composite stands for a portrait of an unknown person created by a forensic technician based on the description of a witness. Despite deploying the computer technique, the recognition rate on the basis of the suspect's portrayal is very low. Although different software solutions were proposed, the main principle has remained untouched since manual sketching. The process still relies on the detailed description of suspects and their individual features with the aim of merging the features into a final portrayal. This practice is not compatible with the way humans perceive other faces and therefore, most of them cannot provide a precise description. The aim of the project is to propose a method of creating a facial composite exploiting the natural ability of humans to recognize faces. The project will deal with possibilities of automated generating faces utilising genetic algorithms. In addition, it presumes also a proposal of a suitable mathematical representation of faces.
