Progressive methods for determining the fire characteristics of flammable dusts using unique devices

Project description:Safety and health at work is an important part of the working process. Ensuring safety is a necessary requirement to ensure a satisfactory working environment and ensures optimal performance of employees. Safety is particularly important in industry, where it can often come to dangerous situations such as fires or explosions. At present, the explosions of flammable dust in industry are not a new phenomenon. Over a long period of explosion research in these technologies, many research papers have been devised to explain the causes of their occurrence, and attempts to identify ways to eliminate the explosions. The fact is that more than 70% of materials and industrial waste dust are flammable. This means that in most industrial plants where such materials are present, there is a real risk of fire and explosion of dust. Fire characteristics can be considered as an important indicators of properties of dangerous substances such as dusts. From the perspective of fire safety, these indicators are really important whether it is explosion limits, ignition energy or flame characteristics while values of selected characteristics depend on test conditions which should be similar to conditions in practice. Their production and simulation is not simple so it is necessary to consider various external effects and parameters. Project will be primarily focused on study of characteristics of dusts with emphasis on their flammability and explosiveness. Research will be carried out on uniqe advanced devices used in fire engineering as well as on modified measurement procedures commonly used to provide accordance between measurements of characteristics and conditions in practice. There will be also designed and constructed device within the project, which will contribute significantly in study of fire safety issues. The advantage of these devices will also be low operating costs compared to commercially available devices. In this way, the measurement of the fire characteristics of dust
