|Project description:||The aim of the project is to improve the thermal stability of wood and composites based on wood. The main objectives of the project are as follows: 1. Thermal analysis of various types of wood (spruce, pine, beech, oak, birch) at different heating rates, wood density, atmosphere (oxygen, air, nitrogen) to examine the quantity and quality of the resulting carbon residue. 2. Determination of kinetic parameters of degradation (activation energy, constant velocity at a given temperature) of individual types of wood. Determination of thermal and thermal oxidation stability of resulting carbonaceous residues. 3. Determination of ignition conditions and characterization of the burning process in a conical calorimeter according to the rate of heat release, smoke, oxygen consumption, weight loss and temperature in gaseous and solid phase relative to the radiant source temperature. Quantification of the susceptibility of carbonaceous residues to incineration and subsequent spread of fire, related to the density of wood. 4. Carbon residue as marker of burning conditions in model fire and paramagnetism as indicator of temperature. 5. Applying and assessing the impact of flame retardants on improving the thermal stability of wood and woodbased composites (process of solution according to points 1-3).|
