Project description:The aim of the project is to investigate the induced electron transfer in natural and synthetic systems employing predominantly spectroscopic methods (EPR, NMR, UV/Vis/NIR and FT-IR spectroscopy) and electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry). The research is oriented especially on the physicochemical characterization of organic materials with specific properties (e.g. conducting polymers), as well as on the study of magnetic, redox and spectroscopic properties of transition metal complexes and on their roles in the redox processes in biological systems. The investigations of photoinduced reactions are focused on the primary radical intermediates generated upon photoexcitation of organic compounds and their complexes in homogeneous systems, and also in heterogeneous titanium dioxide suspensions using spin trapping technique, with the aim to find relationship between photochemical activity and structure of organic substrate.
