Title of the thesis:Analysis of speech
Summary:This work describes the process of speech recognition and development of simple recognition tool. It discusses how speech recognition became respected area of research and how it combines aspects of signal processing and information technology. In the first section we mention the motivation behind our activity and we explain why we are trying to achieve some goals. These goals are laid out in reference to the history of speech recognition and synthesis, since over the times scientists and inventors came up with many ideas that makes it more successful. Then in section two, we study current state of the art and methods used in nowadays speech recognition applications. We describe methods of signal filtering, feature computation and pattern recognition using hidden Markov model. In section three we specify concrete goals we would like to achieve and particular steps, that can bring us to them. We will also lay an outlines to an application we try build to experiment with proposed concept of recognition. Section four contains results of tests and experiments we performed. The results are shortly concluded in section five. Additional information can be found in appendices at the end of the document.
Key words:HMM, speech recognition, Matlab
