Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. Institute of Engineering Pedagogy and Humanities. Thesis Supervisor: doc. Ing. Roman Hrmo Trnava, 2011. 73 p., PhD. This thesis deals with using the internet in the teaching process. It describes the internet as an information medium of this millennium, its use in schools by means of educational portals and projects. The thesis characterizes the distance education, describes its types, systems, pros and cons. It outlines the project of functional literacy of the teaching staff in Information Technology - FIT and educational modules realized through this project. In the next section it deals with the program Moodle. The thesis further defines a role of the teacher in an e-learning course. The Research carried out in our thesis has confirmed that the internet, which use is almost a daily matter of course among young people, is an important part of the learning process, helps to improve the quality of education, enriching it with the latest information and its exploitation in the educational process encourages students to greater interest in the curriculum. I see the importance of the work to that, within the results reached by our research it can motivate teachers at secondary schools to involve the internet much more intensively to the educational process and to learn their self to work effectively with it to be able to exploit all the opportunities that worldwide network of information offers.
