Title of the thesis:The x-ray diffraction study of Cu-Zn couple on steel substrate
Summary:This thesis deals with x-ray diffraction study of electrochemically deposited Cu and Zn layers on top of steel substrate. Substrate is studied during deposition as well as before and after heat treatment. Aim of thesis is to characterize initial state of steel substrate, Cu layer, Zn layer and states after various heat treatments. The first chapter of this master thesis provides the overview of diffusion process in materials, especially interdiffusion of copper-zinc couple. In second chapter is given theoretical basis of X-ray diffraction as well as used refinement methods for analyzing samples. Experimental part is divided into two chapters. First section of experimental part deals with XRD quantitative and qualitative phase analysis. All samples have been analyzed by using Rietveld refinement method and results are sum up in tables and figures. Second section of experimental part is set to take another view on the problem by using SEM EDX method.
Key words:x-ray diffraction , copper, zinc, copper-zinc deposition, diffusion, Rietveld refinement, MAUD
